Shango - Trampin' (1970 us, excellent melange of funk latin west coast folk psych rock)

Shango, known for having Tommy Reynolds, known for Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds, and T-Bones, in their band, released their great second album in 1970. A mighty cool group who mixed in all sorts of hip elements into more straightforward west coast rock modes! There's a bit less of a global impulse here than on the group's debut, but it's still there in the mix – and served up with really cool arrangements from Jimmie Haskell, who ups some slight funky currents in the rhythms – which are then knocked out of the park by the excellent production on the album by Steve Barri! Titles include "Walkin In The Sunshine", "That's My Bag", "Maybe I Can Find A Way", "Brotherhood", "Have You Seen The Morning", "The Time Has Come", and "Some Things A Man's Gotta Do".
